Ocean Winds began development of Moray East in 2009, when EDPR (one of the companies which owns Ocean Winds) was awarded development rights for the site as part of the UK Crown Estate’s Third Round of Offshore Wind Licencing.
Ocean Winds has been present in the Moray Firth for over a decade. The UK headquarters from which Moray East was built was opened in Edinburgh in 2010. Work undertaken there now includes construction of sister project Moray West, and development of the neighbouring Caledonia site, which Ocean Winds was awarded as part of the ScotWind allocation round.
Moray East is operated and maintained by Ocean Winds from a new state-of-the-art operations and maintenance base which was opened at Fraserburgh Harbour.
